Offering a home away from home, this long-running guesthouse has cheapies with shared bathroom and a range of smarter options. Jasmine Lodge also has a friendly family atmosphere and the staffs show a refreshing willingness to go the extra mile for their guests.

The glue that binds it all together is Mr Kunn, his wife Jasmine, and their extended families. They are full of useful information and advice without the hard sell you often find in budget guesthouses. Among the services that come with the modest room rates are free use of the bicycles in city, free coffee and tea from 12 pm until 4 pm and The Killing Fields or Angkor wat history and Have water have fish about Tonle sap screened in the upstairs bar every night (unless you vote against it). The elevated bar-restaurant includes a pool table for a spot of friendly hustling. Our favorite option, however, is the battered old Jeep you can hire for the day - perfect for an adventurous and unforgettable trip out to a far-flung temple like Beng Mealea temple, preah khan,koh ker temple, Preah vihear temple and Banteay chmar temple. All rooms are clean and range from simple boxes with share bathrooms to those with the option of air-con and hot water and cable TV in a newer wing.
